Overview McKesson Canada was established in Montreal, Quebec in 1905. In the last 110 years, they have established themselves in all 13 provinces and territories, touching every aspect of the health care system in Canada. Their 3,700 employees work together to provide solutions that improve the quality, safety and cost effectiveness of patient care. However, due to challenges with Government controlled drug price reductions and pressures on their provincial healthcare budgets, McKesson Canada is facing several decisions.

  • The Hospital Automation Solutions division of McKesson Canada is at a crossroad. What should McKesson Canada do with this division?
  • Should it renew its agreements with its current partners?
  • Should it expand its product line and look at solutions for Clinics, Long Term Care facilities, Dental Offices, or other healthcare sectors?
  • Should it look at other drug supply management opportunities such as veterinary sector?
  • Should it look at non-drug based supply management solutions like medical/surgical supplies?
  • Should it exit this sector?
  • Are there other opportunities to allow this division to grow double digit?
  • Are there opportunities with pharmaceutical manufacturers?
