Au Revoir MMICC 2012

It’s hard to believe that MMICC week is over. It feels like just yesterday we welcomed 9 different schools from around the world to Montreal. Apparently time truly does fly when you’re having fun. It’s amazing how strangers from all over the world can come together, from Serbia to Australia to as close as Montreal, and develop friendships that will last a lifetime. It’s hard to pinpoint the exact moment this fondness for one another developed. For some it may have been the first time they met during dinner at l’Academie, for others it may have been during the cocktail before Closing Ceremonies. Either way, participants, advisors, ambassadors and committee alike can take away valuable memories that they can cherish every day. (more…)

MMICC 2012: Day 4

And the day the participants have been longing, and dreading, has finally arrived: Case crack day! Teams were given their cases twenty-four hours before their case presentation slot and have that exact amount of time to “crack” the case. They will then have to present their business solution to a panel of judges, using Powerpoint as a medium, and convince the judges that their idea is best. Teams will have a very short 20 minutes to present, followed by a 10 minute Q&A period. There will be morning and afternoon presentations so as to ensure that every judge sees every single case presentation. Judges will then deliberate all together and come up with the 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place MMICC Award recipient teams. (more…)

MMICC 2012: Day 3

Day 3 started off with hopes high, and all participants optimistic yet slightly confused as we all headed to Mount Avila for some snow tubing and this despite de 23 C weather ! Hence, despite the heat and humidity we were dressed in heavy duty boots, mittens and large jackets. We were astounded to see that there was in fact snow when we arrived at our destination and were all eager to get on the slopes. As teams headed up the mountain, participants realized they will be snow tubing in t-shirts! It is with great excitement that the teams rushed to the top of the slopes. It did not take too many rounds before everyone tried all sort of different techniques to slide down the slopes; needless to say a lot of screaming and laughter was involved, MMICC style. A major shout out has to go to the University of Navarra for fighting on top of the hill with their tubes – hilarious. When teams moved from tubing to rafting, various snowball fights broke out between participants, ambassadors and advisors which made waiting in line extremely entertaining. (more…)

MMICC 2012: Day 2

Day Two started off with the quite the bang as participants dragged themselves out of bed early after a long night of karaoke at Le Cocktail. After a great breakfast, participants headed over to the Bronfman Building at Desautels for an opening speech by Dean Todd and a briefing on the exciting Transformers-themed Scavenger Hunt around the Montreal area. Our very own VP Internals, David and Fathima, also dressed up in the spirit of the competition as a Colonel and Transformer, respectively. (more…)

MMICC 2012: Day 1 – An Epic Start

You know how they say, when you’re going to do something, do it right? Well MMICC did it right tonight. Oh we did it right. We here at MMICC do not lie; so when we say that Day 1 of MMICC was a success, we truly mean it. The afternoon was the regular check-in time for all teams just arriving. While some teams were busy settling down, Singapore was spotted enjoying the European charm of Old Montreal and chatting in an unusually warm Montreal sun with Serbia at Place Jacques Cartier. Once everyone was settled in, the excitement began. (more…)
